Synopsis

For nearly five decades Channel 1 has been documenting Israeli complex reality.

A long line of directors and reporters presented the public with social, security, ethnic, religious and economical issues of Israeli society. The Documentarists produced a professional, moral and personal kind of journalism, often facing conflicting political interests. They documented key moments of historic and dramatic events that were engraved in the national conscious of Israel.

The series tracks the milestones of Israeli documentary through remarkable films such as “Amud Ha’Esh”,”Memories of the Eichmann trial”, “T’kuma” and more, to try and decode the effect these films had on Israeli media.

“The Documanterists” features Channel 1’s archive films, along side interviews with the creators.
